The Desk of Mrs. Thompson
Throughout my life I have found teaching to be a very fulfilling profession that involves all aspects of my life. I believe that my students are my influence on the future generations within the great state of Louisiana and the United States of America as a whole. My passion is to assist my elementary education students in every way possible by not only stressing the major concepts of biology, but by also providing an opportunitiy for students to discuss other unspoken issues that may arise within the typical classroom. Such issues include how to manage a classroom budget, how to integrate available technology into the typical classroom, what to do when a child does not comply with the rules, how to deal with diverse family dynamics, and how to make accommodations for special needs children within our classrooms. Teaching is more than the subject matter; it is the relationship that we as educators develop with our students. My philosophy within the Science 103 course is to teach future educators how to develop lasting impressions on their students through the methodologies they utilize to teach science to young, impressionable, and curious students.
